Response to Parenting and Social Networking:
The issue of trying to control a teenager's social interactions on the internet is somewhat new to every parent in this day and age. When it comes the internet, most parents are clueless to what kind of doors they are opening online, so to speak. In the PBS presentation, many of these teenagers are unaware of the certain dangers that lurk behind these doors and they end up making big mistakes that mentally and in some cases physically destroy their well-being. What I feel should be done about this is for parents to take a strong approach in learning and using social networking to their advantage. Not necessarily denying them the privilege of social networks, but to guide them in the right direction. Teach them the dangers of using these sites and always remind them that the internet is written in a permanent black marker, something thats not easily erased.
